How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I was going to school at the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale. My landlord was renovating the apartment below mine. I wanted something new to do, I had never painted before so I asked him if I could paint it for free. He agreed.
I remember the moment clearly. I was almost finished, I was painting a doorframe, CCR was on the radio, and it hit me. This is what I was supposed to be doing. I moved back to Jacksonville a month later and started my painting business. Ten years later I know it was the best decision I ever made.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
I am a cut above the rest. I do what I say I'm going to do. I'm always willing to try new techniques and products. I am constantly learning new things. What most people don't realize is you could paint for 50 years and not know everything. There is so much to know about different surfaces, preparation, products, and techniques. This is my chosen career path and I want to be the best I can be.
