How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
A friend who had two office cleaning jobs hired Jody in 1987 as a helper. The following year when his friend became legally blind and could no longer see well enough to work, he gave the jobs to Jody. He enjoyed it so much that he decided to pursue building his own cleaning business. While working the overnight shift at a gas station, he spent the daytime hours creating his business and canvassing the area to obtain clients. In the following months he acquired enough clients to quit his night job and just work the cleaning business. Later that year he and Debbie got married, and 3 months later she left her secretarial job to join Jody in the cleaning business. Together this husband and wife team has been keeping St. Augustine's offices clean ever since.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
A few points:
We have been personally operating First Coast Cleaners for over 34 years, so we know the most efficient, professional way to properly handle the complexities of important cleaning matters. As experienced professionals, we know our job and work independently in an efficient manner. You never have to micro-manage us. [An amateur will know just the basics, and this lack of in-depth knowledge of the industry can lead to substandard work and permanent damage of your equipment, floors, surfaces, etc.]
The vast majority of other cleaning companies have their employees doing the work since most jobs are too big for one person to regularly handle alone … which means you have no control over who is in regularly in your office after hours. In contrast, we do all the work ourselves, we have no employees. We live by deeply-rooted principles of honesty, so you can be assured that we will never lie, directly or indirectly steal, or do anything ethically or morally improper against any person or company. Also, First Coast Cleaners is NOT a franchise ... it is our own company built brick-by-brick by our own four hands from personally visiting local businesses to introduce ourselves and our services, and our company has been worked by our own four hands for 34+ years.
